Tickets now available for special 100th anniversary concert at Cefn’s Community Centre
Cefn Cribwr Community Association are thrilled to be holding a special concert on Saturday 22nd June as part of a series of events to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the opening of the Community Centre ( aka the Green Hall).
It will, for the first time ever, feature a joint performance of two of Wales’ leading male voice choirs; Kenfig Hill and District Male Voice Choir and Bois Goetre-Hen. As well as showcasing the best of local choral tradition, one of Wales’ most gifted young violinists will also be performing on the stage. 17-year-old Sage Taylor who went to Cefn school and is from the village is such a talent that he plays in the National Youth Orchestra of Wales and the Junior Conservatoire of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Completing a line-up of fantastic musicians is the very popular local soprano soloist Rhian Hughes.
Tickets at £5 each are available from myself, Mary Thomas, Mandy Baldwin, David-Lloyd Jones, Steve Early, Rhian Pike, Ellis Rogers, Dave Evans and Diana Dimond.
All funds raised will help maintain the village hall.
Seascape festival in Porthcawl this weekend
Inspired by the sea, a whole range of outdoor art performances are taking place in Porthcawl this weekend.
The free event, which is being organised by Awen Cultural Trust, started yesterday and continues today, Sunday 2 June, between 10am and 6pm at a number of locations around Porthcawl including Cosy Corner and John Street bandstand.
Sessions include a silent seafront disco, live music, street performances and much more.
This event is funded by the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund, in partnership with Bridgend County Borough Council, and Cyngor Celfyddydau Cymru | Arts Council of Wales.

New support programme for unpaid carers at Bridgend Life Centre
All unpaid carers are invited to join Halo at their Carers Respite Programme at Bridgend Life Centre.
The programme will take place every Tuesday between 4 June and 9 July from 2pm – 4pm.
Support includes:
- Exercise, relaxation, and wellbeing sessions
- Access to Halo Leisure’s Health & Toning Suite
- Holistic therapy workshops for stress relief
- Nutrition advice and healthy lifestyle tips
- Information on carers’ rights and support systems
Halo have also partnered with ‘Everycare’ and the ‘Dementia Support Team’ from Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board to provide free replacement care for your loved ones during the programme. Thanks to the funding support from Bridgend County Borough Council, this programme is free of charge.
