Bridgend County Borough Council have launched a new Virtual Christmas Market webpage to promote the work of traders from Bridgend Indoor Market while offering customers the chance to find out more about their products.
Due to the interests of public safety, the market was forced to close after an inspection by a Welsh Government approved specialist confirmed that there is an issue with Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) in parts of the market hall roof.
The council have been working with the market traders, Rhiw Shopping Centre, the Shared Regulatory Service’s food safety, trading standards and environmental health teams, Business Wales, the Department of Works and Pensions and Citizen’s Advice to support traders, and helping them with alternate accommodation such as:
- pop-up markets in the Rhiw Shopping Centre
- relocation of stalls to units in the Rhiw Shopping Centre and other town centre premises
