How to avoid unnecessary queues at vaccination centre

Residents of Bridgend County Borough who have received letters featuring details of how and when they can receive their vaccination booster shots are being advised not to turn up more than 10 minutes before their appointment in order to avoid having to queue unnecessarily.

The Covid-19 vaccination booster programme is currently targeting frontline health and social care staff and vulnerable people who are aged 80 and over.

It will later focus upon people identified as having underlying health conditions and weakened immune systems, and people who are aged 50 and over.

The boosters are being delivered in the same order used for the first and second dose phases of the vaccination programme, and appointment letters are being issued to everybody within priority groups one to nine.

The Leader, Cllr Huw David said: “The booster slots are currently being offered by appointment only, and are not available as a walk-in option.

“With the appointment system in place and no need to turn up early, you can avoid having to queue unnecessarily by making sure you arrive at the centre no more than 10 minutes before your allocated slot.

“People who have specific needs for issues such as mobility or access should also contact the vaccination centre in advance using the details on their appointment letters. Wales remains at the forefront of the vaccination programme, and I hope that as many people as possible will ensure they are fully vaccinated against Covid-19.”
