Arrangements for COVID-19 mobile testing in Bridgend County Borough

Following recent technical difficulties, Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board has confirmed that arrangements are back in place for coronavirus mobile testing facilities in Bridgend County Borough.

The mobile facility located at the Richard Price Centre in Llangeinor will reopen on Saturday 31 October, and will remain available each day between 9am–5pm until 4 November.

The testing facility will then move to the Grand Pavilion in Porthcawl on 5 November where it will be available until 12 November between 9am-5pm, seven days a week.

Residents who are symptomatic can either book an appointment online, or call in and wait to be seen. Please only attend if you are showing symptoms of coronavirus such as a high temperature, a new persistent cough, or a loss or change in your sense of taste or smell.

While waiting to use the mobile testing service, some queuing should be expected, so please remember to wear a mask. On arrival, health professionals will guide you through the process, and you will be asked to provide your name, date of birth, address and mobile phone number.

Once the test has been completed, you must return home immediately to self-isolate until the results have been confirmed. While most people will receive their results via text message the day after taking a test, some results may take a little longer.

Council Leader Huw David said: “The mobile testing units are designed so that they can be moved around between different communities within the county borough as well as serving as a rapid response facility which can be deployed where it is needed most and as the situation changes.

“As a community of more than 20,000 people, many of whom are older residents, Porthcawl has been selected as the next location for the mobile testing centre.

“In addition to this, plans are also underway for establishing a new static testing site for the county borough, so look out for more information around this soon.

“We will be announcing regular updates on the mobile testing facility, so please keep an eye on the council’s website and social media channels for latest news.”
