On Saturday 26 March at 8.30pm, Bridgend County Borough Council will be switching off all non-essential lights at council-owned offices and depots for one hour to support the Earth Hour event organised by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
Designed to draw greater attention towards environmental issues and the need to decarbonise and improve our sources of energy, Earth Hour has been in operation for 15 years and has grown to become a global event.
It has led to innovations such as the planting of new trees to restore thousands of hectares of degraded land, the creation of ‘solar trees’ where the public can recharge mobile phones using renewable green energy and more.
idents wishing to take part can find out more by visiting the WWF website at www.wwf.org.uk
Every action counts, no matter how big or how small, and residents can also download the WWF My Footprint app to make changes within their daily lives designed to help protect the planet.
