Local Support Worker recognised for exceptional level of care by prestigious Care Forum Wales Awards

Local Support Worker, Andrea Price, has been recognised for the exceptional level of care she has provided to those with learning disabilities, after being shortlisted for ‘Exceptional Newcomer’ by the prestigious Care Forum Wales Awards.

An impressive and inspiring woman, Andrea first joined the care industry just eighteen months ago after supporting her Husband, Jon, who suffered a life-threatening heart attack five years ago.

Realising the positive impact she could make on the lives of others, Andrea secured a Support Worker role with My Choice Healthcare, a care facility provider operating across South Wales, Shropshire and the West Midlands.

Having joined Springfield Residential House, a My Choice Healthcare facility located in Gilfach in March 2023, Andrea quickly made a difference to the lives of its six residents with learning difficulties – going above and beyond for each individual while truly embracing the social care values of respect, compassion and dignity.

In recognition of her impressive approach to care, Andrea has now been shortlisted for ‘Exceptional Newcomer’ alongside two other finalists by the Care Forum Wales Awards.

Discussing this impressive achievement, Bethan Evans, CEO of My Choice Healthcare, said: “My Choice Healthcare was founded to make a positive difference to every life we touch, by aspiring towards providing exceptional care and high-quality accommodation, to support Adults with Learning Disabilities, those with Mental Illness and/or Older People.

“Andrea is an excellent representative of our business and truly showcases what it means to deliver exceptional standards of care and support for those who need us. Both the team at Springfield Residential House and I are incredibly proud of her and feel honoured that she is part of My Choice Healthcare. We now look forward to the awards ceremony in a few weeks’ time and extend the best of luck to all other finalists.”

Andrea Price added: “I really wish that I had joined the care industry years ago, because it is so rewarding to see the response from all individuals at Springfield Residential House. I am really honoured to have been recognised at such an early stage in my care career, but I am no doubt that caring for disabled members of my own family over the years has helped.”

Taking place on Friday 18th October 2024 at the Mercure Cardiff Holland House Hotel, the Care Forum Wales Awards celebrate excellence across the Wales care sector and congratulates individuals who have demonstrated outstanding care within their field.

Gold sponsors of the Excellence in Learning Disability & Mental Health Services Award, My Choice Healthcare prides itself on the provision of tailored care and support, together with providing high quality homes for vulnerable adults and older people.
