Kenfig Hill father runs Cardiff Half Marathon in memory of baby son

A local father from Kenfig Hill, Chris Sparkes, ran the Cardiff Half Marathon this Sunday 6th October, in memory of his and his wife Jenna’s baby son Henry.

Chris is raising funds for the paediatric intensive care unit at Noah’s Ark children’s hospital for Wales, the team that cared for the couple’s precious baby boy.

Tragically Henry Spencer Sparkes was just two weeks old when he passed away at the hospital. Chris and Jenna are forever indebted to the compassionate, caring, dedicated doctors and nurses that did all they could, around the clock for Henry. As part of Henry’s legacy, the family are committed to raising as much funds as possible for the specialist ward. A coffee morning and golf day has already been held by the family and the Cardiff Half Marathon is the next fundraiser.

Running together with Chris were his brother-in-law and Henry’s uncle Tom Carpenter. Even the couple’s older children 6-year-old Evelyn and 3-year-old Emrys have seen Chris getting ready for runs and wanted to do something for their baby brother too, so have signed up for the Cardiff family fun run! Little Evelyn and Emrys ran the Cardiff family fun run with their dad on Saturday.
