Caerau residents meet new contractor as wall insulation scheme continues to progress

Warmworks delivered its first ‘Meet the Contractor’ event on 16 May as part of the Caerau wall insulation remedial works scheme. Eligible property owners had the opportunity to learn more about the types of insulation that will be used during the works.

Following a thorough procurement process by Bridgend County Borough Council, Warmworks was recently appointed as the main contractor for the scheme which will see any inadequate internal and external wall insulation replaced with new insulation that meets the latest quality standards.

Residents participating in the scheme were invited by Warmworks to meet members of its team along with representatives from sub-contractor, SERS Energy Solutions and Bridgend County Borough Council.

Two informative sessions were held over the course of the day at Noddfa Chapel Community Project, which served as an opportunity for registered residents to ask questions and learn more about the insulation that will be used and how and when the work to their properties will be carried out.

Many residents are already familiar with Warmworks as they provide the local resident liaison service, which offers Caerau residents the opportunity to attend weekly drop-in sessions at Noddfa Chapel, as well as a direct contact for any queries.

Paul McGhee, Managing Director, Local Delivery Division at Warmworks, commented: “We are delighted to have been awarded the contract to deliver the Caerau Wall Insulation Scheme. We want to reassure residents and the wider community that the work we will be doing meets national accreditation standards and will be carried out in line with the latest quality and compliance requirements.

“We will very closely manage the project at every stage and will ensure residents receive the best possible standard of service, with dedicated care and support throughout the process, including detailed post-installation checks and advice.

“Warmworks has a strong track record of delivering similar schemes, having already installed more than 150,000 energy efficiency improvements in over 40,000 households across the UK. We are ideally placed to help residents in Caerau to have a better quality of life and live in warmer, more energy efficient homes.”

Mark Shephard, Chief Executive of Bridgend County Borough Council, said: “I’d like to thank Warmworks for holding a ‘Meet the Contractor’ event so soon after being awarded the contract.

“It’s really important that eligible property owners got given the opportunity to meet with the contractor to learn more about the upcoming works which will be of a high standard, eco-friendly and in line with the latest nationally accredited standards and our decarbonisation agenda.

“I would also like to reiterate that a key part of the scheme was to ensure that the level of support available went further than just the 25 properties that had work completed through the Arbed Scheme, that’s why we extended our eligibility criteria to additionally include 79 properties from UK Government’s CESP Programme.”
