‘Be Mighty. Recycle’ campaign underway to promote importance of food waste recycling – especially those Halloween Pumpkins!

The ‘Be Mighty. Recycle’ campaign is underway to turn food waste into renewable energy, and help Wales reach number 1 in the world for recycling.

With 23% of the recyclable waste placed in blue bags across the county borough made up of food waste, the council is reminding residents about what can be recycled in your brown food caddy:

  • Cooked and uncooked food
  • Meat
  • Fish
  • Bones
  • Peelings
  • Tea bags
  • Pet food

Don’t forget pumpkins can also be recycled after Halloween. Chop them up and place any unused pulp or seeds in your food caddy or place the whole pumpkin at your kerbside recycling for collection.

Recycling just one pumpkin skin could power a typical home for one hour. To find out more about recycling, or to request more containers, please visit the Bridgend council website.
