Following an improvement check by Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) in November 2022, it was reported that Bridgend County Borough’s Children’s Social Care Services have made improvements across the board since the Performance Evaluation in May 2022.
Although there have been marked improvements, it remains that the authority’s Children’s Services still require improvement. Areas of focus included: people – voice and control, wellbeing, partnership and integration and prevention.
Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Social Services and Early Help, Cllr Jane Gebbie, said: “The authority continues to experience a high level of demand for Children’s Social Care Services, with increased complexity in needs.
“Therefore, receiving positive feedback that the authority is making marked improvements in our Children’s Services is reassuring, and we strive for this progress to continue.
“We have updated our action plan according to findings from the CIW report, and will adopt a one council approach to support Children’s Social Care Services to continue to address identified challenges.
“We welcome the close monitoring of the authority’s performance and progress by CIW, as we share the same aim – to provide an improved service that will safeguard and enhance the wellbeing of children and families at risk in Bridgend County Borough.”
