  • The winning idea was decided by audience votes

Sarah Murphy MS hosted a community event to hear ideas for the Salt Lake regeneration on Friday night (26th November) at the Hi Tide Inn.

The winning ideas came from Hazel at West Park Primary for the Dream Park Competition, and Jamie Strong who won the audience vote for his pitch for a local pump-track.

The panel of judges included DJ Lee Jukes, Margaret Minhinnick, Chair of Porthcawl Chamber of Trade, Porthcawl Councillor Alex Harris, Beth from dinnerwithb and Olivia a pupil at Porthcawl Comprehensive School.

The event heard a range of proposals, including Shipping Containers pitched by Gemma at the Pantri Box, a vision of Salt Lake by Sero Homes, Tommy who pitched for a Lido, sustainable ocean farming by Câr-Y-Môr, and the need for a space for wellness by Louise Hogan and Ryan Lacrore.

At the free event, audience members voted for their favourite idea, presented by members of the community.

Sarah Murphy, Bridgend and Porthcawl MS, said:

“It is vital to deliver investment in our communities if they are going to grow into the future.

“As your representative in the Senedd, I care so much about hearing your ideas for how this should be done – and the regeneration at Salt Lake should be guided by the community.

“I’d like to thank everyone who came along, our fantastic judges and the team at the Hi Tide for hosting such a fantastic event.”
