All businesses now open at Bridgend’s revamped indoor market

Traders have now reopened their businesses at Bridgend Indoor Market which has undergone the final stages of a makeover.

While the coronavirus pandemic has meant the indoor market has only been open for limited periods during the last year, all stalls have now welcomed back customers after restrictions were eased.

The market has been revamped with new public toilets available for shoppers to use, including accessible and baby-changing facilities. There is also a central square, which can be used for specialist events, family entertainment and children’s play areas when it is safe to do so.

Measures are in place to keep customers safe, including a one-way system, two-metre markings on the floor and hand sanitiser stations. Those visiting the market must wear a face covering unless they are exempt.

Stalls at the market offer a wide range of products and services, including a bakery, butcher, delicatessen, health food, greengrocer, music, barber shop, haberdashery, gifts, mobile phone repair and kitchenware.

Bridgend County Borough Council continues to do all it can to help support local businesses by promoting the ‘shop local’ message and offering concessionary rates for market traders which will be reviewed at the end of this month.
