How unpaid carers can receive the Covid-19 vaccine

People who are also unpaid carers for a relative, friend or neighbour in Bridgend County Borough are being encouraged to complete an online form in order to apply for their coronavirus vaccination.

Following a review of the vaccination priority groups by the Joint Committee for Vaccination and Immunisation, carers have been added to priority group six.

Welsh Government has made an online form available which must be completed in order to generate an appointment.

The appointment will direct carers to a local vaccination centre where the vaccine will be administered. With the vaccinations only available at the centres, carers must complete the online form in order to receive an appointment.

GP surgeries are not providing the vaccine to carers, so please avoid contacting them with enquiries.

The Leader, Cllr Huw David said: “Unpaid carers provide invaluable support to vulnerable adults and children, and I hope that they will take advantage of this opportunity to receive the coronavirus vaccine as part of the priority group process.

“This move provides further reassurance to the people of Wales that nobody will be left behind as part of the vaccination programme.”

You can complete the online form and find out more about how Welsh Government is organising vaccinations for unpaid carers at the Welsh Government website. You can also contact the Carers Wellbeing service via [email protected] or 01656 336969.
