Repair work to start tomorrow on Watersports Centre after Storm Francis

Work is due to start tomorrow (Wednesday, August 26) on repairing the roof of the Watersports Centre in Rest Bay, Porthcawl, after the strong winds from Storm Francis.

Following roof damage of the centre which includes the surf school and café, the centre was temporarily closed today by Bridgend County Borough Council.

The Leader, Cllr Huw David, said: “Temporary barriers have been installed to prevent the public from gaining access to the area in case any debris comes away from the building.

“The fire service attended the site today and knocked on local residents doors to make them aware of the situation.

“Contractors also attended the site today and ordered a cherry picker to remove the panel and make the building safe today.

“We hope to reopen the building as soon as it is safe to do so.”
