BCBC Businesses receive £26.5m funding support

Local businesses have benefited from more than £26.5m of business grant funding issued by Bridgend County Borough Council as part of Welsh Government’s Covid-19 business support package.

Since the launch of the all-Wales £1.4bn financial rescue package, the council has processed 2,125 applications from local firms.

The support has been made available to all businesses who are eligible for small business rates relief in Wales and who were occupying premises with a rateable value of £12,000 or less at the eligible date of 20 March.

It has also supported retail, leisure or hospitality businesses with a rateable value of £12,001 to £51,000.

The Deputy Leader, Cllr Hywel Williams, said:

“This has been a huge task and I want to thank council staff for working as quickly as possible, including across weekends, to ensure that eligible local businesses have been able to receive this support.

“It has proven to be vitally important during the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic, and as the scheme is still ongoing, we are continuing to process applications for further support.”

Businesses can submit an application by completing the online form. To avoid delays in processing claims, it is vital for all applicants to provide accurate, essential information including copies of bank statements showing bank details.
